In March 2012 we were invited to make an application to The Football Conference Trust for funding. We outlined our main aims and objectives in a lengthy application and were rewarded with a full grant of £20,000, as long as we could match this by way of other funding. This grant has been central to us being able to realise our stated objectives for the 2012/2013.

We are very fortunate in receiving generous sponsorship from the Medlock Charitable Trust. David Medlock presented a cheque to the value of £10,000 to the Foundation Trustees at half-time during the Bath City FC league match against Slough on Saturday 15th September 2012. The sponsorship is matched funding to that offered by the Conference Football Trust. David has said that, as long as the Foundation uses the funding responsibly it will be repeated next year.
We were very privileged to obtain a grant for £2500 from Bath & North East Somerset Council last November. It is allocated to provide competitive fun for all abilities of young adults. The Foundation will use this funding to provide special support for football teams from communities that include a high percentage of low income families. We also intend to provide opportunities for teams that include players with disabilities. To extend Easter and Summer Soccer Schools presently organized by Bath City FC Supporters’ Society to include the older age groups. The soccer schools are three full days during Easter and two courses of three days duration during the summer holidays.
Touchstone, Property Management, sponsor the Foundation’s Attacking Skills project. The main aim of this project is to encourage and support primary school pupils in the 8-11 yr old age range to improve their communication skills, both in writing and verbal dialogue through contact with players from Bath City FC and Bath University women’s first team squad. Results have shown greatly improved communication skills when tested at the end of the project year. Touchstone are enthusiastic sponsors and encourage all of their employees to support the work of the Foundation. They organised a sponsors football match between themselves and Curo in August. Curo won 1-0. There is always next year.
Curo are the largest social landlord in the Bath area providing 12,000 homes. They are a major local provider of older people’s services and provide homes and support services to general social housing residents, young people and teenage parents, older people in sheltered housing. Curo provide £2000 in sponsorship for our 5-a-side football leagues at both 11-14 and 15-19 age levels. They are fully committed to the work of the Foundation and were quick to raise a fit and well-drilled team to play Touchstone in the Sponsors Match last August. They won a hard fought duel 1-0.
Compressor Systems initially provided £500 to support the 5-a-Side leagues but now wish to support our scholarship scheme to provide membership of a local football club that plays on Sundays. These scholarships are only for those children who have shown outstanding talent at one of our soccer clubs. We are in the process of selecting this years winners and will publish them in due course.
